# The #NotInMyName leader Siyabulela Jentile received a recognition award from the deputy minister of Social Development, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, at the third National Men’s Parliament in Limpopo. He was honoured amongst other men who are championing change in South Africa. Jentile says this recognition is a testament to the #NotInMyName movement’s commitment to pursuing a just and equal society, constantly making progress towards positive social development:

# The City of Cape Town joined tech industry partner, UVU Africa, formerly the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative, for the graduation of 24 entrepreneurs from the City-funded Youth in Business programme. The cohort’s graduation follows a ten-day boot camp developed to help them think through their business concepts, and provide them with the necessary steps to start their businesses. Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth, James Vos says the event saw each graduate pitch their early-stage business ideas to guests from the public and private sectors:

# The City of Cape Town recently celebrated Neighbourhood Watch members at the annual Neighbourhood Watch Awards. Some of the winners included George Kruger of Victoria Park, who walked away with the title of Neighbourhood Watch member of the year. Elsabe Peterson was awarded the Inspiration of the Year award, she was commended for helping ensure safe passage for emergency medical services. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says Neighbourhood Watch members sacrifice a lot for the advancement of their communities:

# After half a decade, the University of Cape Town’s inaugural Future Leaders Programme cohort have reached the finish line. Out of the 12 researchers who joined the programme in 2018, eight remain within the university, and four are no longer primarily affiliated with the institution. UCT says the programme nurtures young, up-and-coming scholars from across the university, with a view of securing a sustainable future leadership for the institution. One of the participants, the Department of Oceanography’s doctor Katye Altieri says the unrestricted funds from the programme were valuable.

# And finally: A black hat worn by Napoleon Bonaparte when he ruled the French empire in the 19th Century has been sold for 38.63-million-rand at auction in Paris. Osenat auction house says the hat is one of 20 remaining out of 120 the French military commander is believed to have owned in his lifetime. The person who bought the hat wanted to remain anonymous. This all comes as Ridley Scott’s Napoleon biopic starring Joaquin Phoenix is set to be released this month.
