# Police are investigating a murder after a woman’s body was found in Tembisa South’s Vusimusi section in Ekurhuleni this morning. The discovery comes after nine women’s bodies were found in Kempton Park and surrounding areas over the past two months. Police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili says investigators are on the crime scene:

# COSATU has welcomed the extension of Eskom Board Chairperson Mteto Nyati’s contract. The federation credits Nyati, the previous board, CEO Dan Marokane and Eskom workers for what it calls a massive achievement in defeating load shedding. COSATU’s spokesperson, Matthew Parks says it remains opposed to Eskom’s unbundling, warning it could undermine the utility’s progress, threaten jobs and pave the way for privatisation:

# ActionSA has asked the Electoral Commission to investigate the alleged removal of its election posters by individuals it claims were contracted by, or acting in the interests of, the DA. The call follows a video posted on X showing two people apparently removing ActionSA posters while putting up DA posters. ActionSA chairperson Michael Beaumont says the IEC should investigate the incident and ask the DA to explain what happened. He says the Electoral Code of Conduct prohibits the unlawful removal or defacing of election posters.

# The Border Management Authority and the South African Revenue Service say more than one-thousand-800 trucks were processed in a single day at the Lebombo Port of Entry in Komatipoort, Mpumalanga, amid ongoing congestion. BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says authorities are working with Mozambican counterparts and other stakeholders to improve the movement of traffic while maintaining border and customs controls. She says the congestion is being blamed on high traffic volumes, infrastructure capacity and operational conditions on both sides of the border:

# Tennis: World number one Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from next week’s China Open in Beijing, delaying his return to competitive tennis. The Italian has been sidelined since winning Wimbledon in July because of a right knee injury, which also forced him to miss the US Open. Sinner said his knee is not yet where he wants it to be. He was due to defend his China Open title after winning the tournament last year. Sinner says he will do everything possible to return to court as soon as possible.

 # And finally, the DA says it’s concerned about contraceptive shortages at several health facilities, just as the Department of Health prepares to switch to a new national supply contract on the first of next month. According to the party, commonly used contraceptives, including daily pills like Triphasil and Nordette, are unavailable at several clinics. The DA’s Michele Clarke is worried the transition could leave women without access to their chosen contraception.
