World could face plastic waste crisis in 10 years

# Norway’s International Development minister, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, warns that the world will be unable to cope with the volume of plastic waste in ten years unless countries agree to curb production. The final round of UN talks on the first global treaty to end plastic waste gets underway in Busan, South Korea, this week. The use of plastic could triple globally by 2060. Tvinnereim, who is also co-chair of a coalition of 60 countries pushing for a strong global plastics treaty, says the world needs increased recycling and waste management.
