# University of the Witwatersrand vice-chancellor and principal, professor Zeblon Vilakazi, says he is honoured to continue to lead the institution, a national treasure, that makes a real difference in society. The Council of Wits voted for Vilakazi to serve his second and final term, which will run from January 2026 to December 2030. Vilakazi says he is ready to continue working towards the 2033 goals, which include investing in the academic project, creating an environment that fosters innovation, and ensuring the well-being of staff and students.
