# A 50-year-old suspect appeared in the Gqeberha New Law Court in the Eastern Cape yesterday on a charge of defrauding the Road Accident Fund. A police spokesperson says it is alleged that the suspect submitted a false claim throu­gh a group of attorn­eys in Gqeberha for alleged injuries. The suspect claims he was involved in a hit-and-run acc­ident. Witnesses called by the court could not substantiate this claim. The invest­igations revealed th­at the Fund was almost pr­ejudiced to the value of 750-thousand-rand by the false claim.
