# The World Health Organization’s head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says he is still hopeful that the world will put the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic behind it in 2022. Two years after the coronavirus first emerged, the WHO has cautioned that it is still too early to be reassured that the Omicron variant leads to milder disease. Ghebreyesus added while 2021 has been hard, he urges everyone to make a New Year’s resolution to get behind the campaign to vaccinate 70-percent of the world’s adult population by the middle of next year:
