US grants R210 million to environmental insurance efforts in Africa

# African Risk Capacity has secured a 210-million-rand partnership with the US government to expand access to parametric insurance across Africa over the next three years. Chief operating official Ange Chitate emphasises this fund will enhance food security and bolster climate resilience in 19 African states. Parametric insurance will enable African governments to respond more effectively to climate risks. Chitate underscores the need for responsive diversification to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability, covering a broader range of countries, hazards, and people.
