# The US government says it has intel about a Russian plan to fabricate a pretext for an invasion of Ukraine using a fake video. The alleged video would show images of civilian casualties in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, and actors playing mourners for people who are killed in an event. Russia says it was not planning any such false operations. However, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby says they believe the plan has the backing of the Kremlin:
