Unemployment rate down to 31.9%

# South Africa’s official unemployment rate was 31.9-percent in the third quarter. This is 0,7 of a percentage point lower than the rate of 32.6-percent in the second quarter. The Quarterly Labour Force Survey indicates that the number of employed people increased by 399-thousand to 16.7-million in the third quarter. The number of unemployed people decreased by 72-thousand to 7.8-million. Finance, community and social services, and agriculture recorded the largest employment gains while employment losses were recorded in manufacturing, mining, transport and ttilities. KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, North-West and Mpumalanga recorded the largest employment increases.
