UN report signals alarming lack of progress in global efforts to address climate crisis

# The United Nation’s secretary-general Antonio Guterres warns of the world being massively off track to limit global warming, urging bolder action ahead of the COP28 climate summit. This after the UN’s annual report revealed a substantial gap between countries’ climate pledges and the needed reductions in emissions to avert catastrophic climate impacts. Even if nations fulfil current commitments, emissions in 2030 will be nine-percent higher than in 2010, far from the required 45-percent reduction by the end of this decade. Although emissions could peak and decrease by 2030, some nations’ net-zero targets remain uncertain.
