# Umngeni mayor Chris Pappas is calling for accountability following wildfires in KwaZulu-Natal that have left many homeless and subsistence farmers severely impacted. Three firefighters died on the scene and three more from burn wounds. Two fire fighters are still in critical condition in hospital. Pappas says the fires, which have claimed 13 lives, are suspected to have been started by poachers. He calls for vigilance:
