Tshwane cautioned against salary increments

# Former Tshwane mayoral committee member for Finance, Jacqui Uys, is urging mayor Nasiphi Moya to prioritise financial stability amid disputes over unpaid wage increases. A three-year salary collective agreement signed in 2021, promised increases of 3.5-percent in 2021/2022, 4.9-percent in 2022/2023, and 5.4-percent in 2023/2024. Former mayor Cilliers Brink reneged on the agreement, and now the matter is headed to the Labour Court. Uys says paying salary increases without ensuring financial sustainability would only lead to short-term gains, followed by potential long-term financial struggles.
