# A state of emergency has been declared in the Canadian western province of British Columbia. This is due to flooding that has impacted the southern parts of the province and has left at least one person dead and two missing. Officials in the region have attributed the natural disaster to the effects of climate change. British Columbia premier John Horgan says the state of emergency is to preserve basic access to services and supplies for communities across the province:
