Good day, let’s look at the latest sports news and scores:
# We start off with soccer: The South African governing body, Safa, is adamant Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is going nowhere. This is despite Tunisian media reports suggesting he was close to accepting an offer to lead the national team. According to the reports, Broos, contractually committed to fulfilling the Bafana role until the 2026 World Cup, will tender his resignation after today’s match against Algeria. Broos steered Bafana to their best Africa Cup of Nations finish in 24 years with the bronze medal last month.
# Rugby: England and Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care has announced his retirement from international rugby. The 37-year-old became only the sixth player to reach 100 England caps when he came off the bench in the Six Nations win over Ireland earlier this month. He made his England debut in 2008. Care says getting the opportunity to represent his country over the past 16 years has been amazing:
# Cricket: Virat Kohli’s performance with the bat led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a four-wicket win over the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Punjab was restricted to 176 for six with Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell taking two wickets each. Kohli’s 77 off 49 balls, and Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror’s unbeaten 48-run partnership off just 18 balls, smashed RCB to their first win of the competition. Kohli says he is happy to be back playing again:

India is in first position after nine Tests, followed by defending champion Australia after 12 games, and New Zealand after six. Pakistan is fourth, the Windies fifth and Sri Lanka and Bangladesh joint seventh. The final will be played in June next year.
# And finally, tennis: World number two Carlos Alcaraz is through to the round of 16 of the Miami Open as he continues his bid to complete the coveted Sunshine Double. The Spaniard defeated France’s Gael Monfils, 6-2, 6-4. Germany’s Alexander Zverev beat American Christopher Eubanks, 7-6, 6-3. In the women’s draw, top-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland was knocked out by Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, while American world number three Coco Gauff was stunned by Caroline (Carolien) Garcia.
