# We kick off with rugby: Springboks Deon Fourie, Damian Willemse and Manie Libbok won’t be available for the Stormers when they play the Sharks in a United Rugby Championship match in Durban on the 17th of next month. The Cape Town team has a three-week break before the resumption of their URC campaign after qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions Cup. They face defending champions La Rochelle in Cape Town in April. The international players will be on a compulsory rest for five weeks, including three weeks away from the game and two weeks of training.
# Cricket: Durban’s Super Giants picked up a bonus-point win when they beat M-I Cape Town by 36 runs in their SA20 match at Newlands in Cape Town. Matthew Breetzke scored 48 as the visitors posted 157 for six. In reply, the homeside was restricted to 121 for nine with Noor Ahmad and Marcus Stoinis taking three wickets each. This win moves the Super Giants to second place on the table, but coach Lance Klusener says they still need to find a top batting performance:
# Soccer: Defending champions Senegal beat Guinea two-nil to make it three wins from three in the Africa Cup of Nations Group C, with both teams advancing to the last 16. Mauritania served up another shock result, knocking out 2019 winners Algeria with a narrow one-nil victory and sealing a historic place in the knockout stages. Cameroon fought back with two goals in the closing stages to edge Gambia three-two to book a spot in the last 16. Angola finished top of Group D with a two-nil victory against second-placed Burkina Faso.

Medvedev says it was a real battle:
# And finally, motorsport: Madrid will replace Barcelona as the host city of the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix in 2026, with the contract extended to 2035. Parts of the new circuit will run through the streets, and a total of 110-thousand spectators will be able to attend per day. This could reportedly increase to 140-thousand, making the venue one of the largest on the F1 calender.
