# The International Society for the Study of Rural Crime’s 2021 Award was presented to Cecili Doorewaard from the University of South Africa. Her study explored, described, and explained the criminal behaviour associated with livestock theft. The panel was unanimous in honouring her research with the award which is given to students for a piece of writing associated with rural criminology. The judges said her research stood out in large part due to its novelty, depth of insight, and, ultimately, significant contribution to the field of rural criminology.
