# A scientist from the South African Environmental Observation Network Elwandle’s coastal node are assessing which species is in the red tide that surfaced in the Eastern Cape. The organisation’s acting manager, Shaun Deyzel, has confirmed the discoloured water associated with red tide spotted last week in St Francis and off the Gamtoos River had now appeared in Algoa Bay. Deyzel says there was no evidence yet that it was a danger to swimmers or even people eating fish.
