# A coalition of organisations dedicated to hunger relief demand the halting of government’s 50-million donation to Cuba. The group includes Chefs with Compassion, Foodforward South Africa, Ladles of Love, NOSH Food Rescue and the Angel Network. Government has said the donation to Cuba is necessary as US sanctions continue to pose a food security threat to the island. The coalition wants government to redirect the funds to an immediate, independent investigation into the root causes of, and solutions to, hunger in South Africa.
