# With it being Sunflower Month, non-profit organisation DKMS Africa, is encouraging people to consider registering as a stem cell donor or making a donation. Each year, over seven-thousand-300 South Africans are diagnosed with blood cancer or blood disorders, and their best chance at survival is a stem cell transplant. Only 25-percent of patients can find a compatible donor in their family. DKMS Africa says the more contributions are made the more donors can be recruited and lives saved.
