# Police and Prison Civil Rights Union says the statistical data on crime in South Africa is disturbing. Popcru spokesperson Richard Mamabolo says the July unrest in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal played a major role in the increase of crime in the country. He says at least 23 police officers were killed between June and September and more resources should be deployed to the high-risk areas.
