# Police minister Bheki Cele says all contact-related crimes such as arson and malicious damage to property recorded increases in South Africa. There were 298 more cases of arson between July and September, which is a 30.2-percent increase compared to the same time last year. There were 28-thousand-988 cases of contact-related crimes reported to the police. Cele says this is one-thousand-997 more such cases compared to the previous reporting period:
