Parliament committee to visit institutions of higher learning in Gauteng following student protests

# Parliament’s portfolio committee on Higher Education will today kickstart a week-long oversight programme in Gauteng, following the sporadic student protests at several higher learning institutions. Students in parts of the country have been protesting for weeks, over fee debt and the inadequate provision of accommodation. The committee will visit institutions including the University of Pretoria, the University of South Africa, Tshwane South and Central Johannesburg TVET Colleges. The committee says student protests threaten the smooth implementation of the 2025 academic programme.
