# The Emergency Medical Service in the Western Cape says close to 50-thousand emergency cases were logged in the month of December. According to a spokesperson Byron La Hoe, of the 50-thousand, 11-thousand-4-hundred-and -3 were trauma cases, 1-thousand 9-hundred and 73 road traffic incidents, and 204 fires. During the New Year weekend, paramedics attended to close to 5-thousand-300 cases. Some of the emergencies included 3-hundred and 10 gynaecological emergencies, 122 road traffic incidents, 4-hundred and 53 respiratory complaints, 8-hundred and 83 incidents of non-cardiac pain, and 7-hundred and 71 assaults with a weapon.
