# The National Prosecuting Authority says it would be inimical to the interests of justice for former president Jacob Zuma to again be allowed to delay his already much-delayed corruption trial. Zuma’s lawyers have stated that should he fail in his second campaign to force state prosecutor Billy Downer’s removal, he would again seek to petition the Supreme Court of Appeal. In papers filed in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg, the NPA says the criminal trial can and should proceed in April 2025 with Downer as the lead prosecutor.
