# A nominee for the position of Inspector-General of Intelligence has called for the amendment of the Intelligence Oversight Act. Phillip Jele says this will strengthen the independence of the Inspector-General. He says for the office to execute its mandate, it cannot depend on the State Security Agency for its technological needs and all other human resources and administrative support. Jele feels the two entities shouldn’t have to rely on the SSA’s budget since they have a watchdog role over the agency. Interviews are being conducted with ten candidates for the position.
