# City Power says huge progress has been made in the recovery and repair work at the Van Beek Substation in Johannesburg, which caught fire yesterday. This left Doornfontein, Jeppestown, and surrounding areas without electricity. City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says work to dismantle the damaged transformer will commence this morning. He adds that if it all goes according to plan, they should be able to switch on all customers affected by this power outage today:
