# The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says the localised increase in Covid-19 case numbers in South Africa is not unexpected. However, it is hard to say whether this indicates the start of a resurgence. The country has recorded 312 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The majority of new cases are from Gauteng with 77-percent, followed by KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape each accounting for five-percent respectively. There has been an increase of 37 hospital admissions. A further ten Covid-19 related deaths have been reported. The country’s recovery rate remains at over 96-percent.
