# ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula says the late Pravin Gordhan was the embodiment of the timeless values that shaped and defined the revolutionary movement over the last 113 years of its existence. Mbalula delivered a message of support on behalf of the ANC at the commemoration of the late Gordhan. He says Gordhan’s role in the liberation struggle, democratic transition, and post-apartheid governance marked him as one of the outstanding leaders of our time:
# Deputy minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Andries Nel, says the Small Claims Courts have extended access to justice for many communities who previously had no access. In the first quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year, Small Claims Courts across the country registered over eight-thousand-515 new claims, with claims totalling 57.9-million-rand. The department’s spokesperson, Terrence Manase says the department continue to break down barriers to justice, especially for the most vulnerable members of our society:
# Johannesburg Water says alternative water supply measures have been implemented in response to the ongoing challenges affecting Hursthill 1, Hursthill 2, Brixton, Crosby, Alexander Park and Berea. Johannesburg Water spokesperson, Pheladi Ramatshila says to minimise the impact, stationary Jojo tanks have been placed across various wards, and the number of roaming tankers has been increased. She says these interventions are aimed at ensuring access to water during this period of constrained supply:
# Twenty-six officers have been injured while policing a protest organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, which saw up to 150-thousand people march through central London. Tensions flared at the Unite the Kingdom rally, with some protesters throwing bottles and other projectiles at police. Five-thousand people joined a nearby counter-protest organised by Stand Up To Racism. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, addressed the crowds at the “freedom of speech festival”. He also claimed UK courts had decided the rights of undocumented migrants superseded those of the “local community”.
# Golf: Kyle McClatchie, Dylan Mostert, Haydn Porteous and Ryan van der Klis this morning resumed their second rounds in the joint lead on six under par in the Vodacom Origins of Golf at the Gowrie Farm Lodge and Golf Course in KwaZulu-Natal after fading light forced an end to play on Friday. It was a busy day with the suspended first round eventually completed on Saturday afternoon before the golfers went straight into the second round. Kelsey Nicholas is the leading Sunshine Ladies Tour professional on two-under par after finishing her first round with 69.
# And finally soccer: Orlando Pirates made history in the MTN8 with their fourth consecutive title after beating Stellenbosch 3-0 in the final at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday. After 90 minutes of goalless football, the Buccaneers scored three goals in extra time. Tshepang Moremi opened the scoring in the 92nd minute, with Tshegofatso Mabasa finding the back of the net nine minutes later, and Moremi sealing the win in the 110th minute. Pirates became the first team to successfully defend the trophy for a third straight year, with Stellenbosch coming up just short in back-to-back seasons.
