# Action Society vows to continue oversight of KwaZulu-Natal Dutch Reformed Church reverend Liezel de Jager’s case as her husband, Werner, was charged with murder – 775 days after her death. The minister’s body was found on the driveway of their home in Amanzimtoti on 13 October 2021. The civil rights group expressed a mix of relief and bitterness at the delayed progress. Action Society’s Ian Cameron criticised the investigative delays, citing Werner as a person of interest from the beginning. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance in the local Magistrate’s Court next Thursday.
# Former Johannesburg city manager Floyd Brink’s bid to appeal the Gauteng High Court’s ruling, declaring his appointment unconstitutional, has been dismissed. The DA contested Brink’s appointment, filing an urgent application for review. Acting High Court Judge Steven Budlender recently deemed the appointment procedurally flawed, unlawful, and invalid. The city, however, alleges nefarious political interferences behind Brink’s removal. In addition, the city states that the consistent political onslaught and attempts to derail the city’s ability to deliver services and improve governance, is unacceptable.

Eskom’s spokesperson, Daphne Mokoena, says this is due to higher-than-anticipated demand and strained emergency reserves. She says 22-thousand-244 megawatts of generation capacity is not available, forecasting a peak evening demand exceeding 28-thousand megawatts. Mokoena’s announcement comes after the country was subjected to stage 6 load-shedding last week:

After six rounds, the Pretoria-side is third on the log, behind Glasgow Warriors and Leinster. That’s after they beat Connacht 53-27 at Loftus Versveld on Saturday, with Springbok fullback Willie le Roux making his debut for the Bulls. Coach Jake White is very happy to have Le Roux in his side:

Gold sells at two-thousand-and-11-dollars-66-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 80-dollars-7-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, urges men to take a stand for the safety of women and girls across the African continent. Speaking at the third Africa Union Men’s Conference on Positive Masculinity in Pretoria, Dlamini-Zuma emphasises the need for men to raise their voices, fostering awareness against gender-based violence and femicide. The two-day conference, she notes, will delve into social strategies for addressing issues impacting women and children:
