Newly qualified teachers wrap up bumpy maiden year of teaching

# The University of Cape Town says this year’s Newly Qualified Teachers Project cohort stepped out of their comfort zones and into their classrooms to start careers in schools across the country. The project is an initiative of the UCT’s School of Education and provides essential support for young teachers who have entered the classroom for the first time. Geography and Life Orientation teacher at Darul Arqam Islamic High School, Abdul-Malik Majiet, says his highlight of the year was his Grade ten class attaining a 100-percent pass rate for two consecutive terms.
