# The DA’s Mpho Phalatse says she is honoured to be the first female mayor of the City of Johannesburg. She won by 144 votes, while the ANC’s Mpho Moerane received 121 votes. Phalatse has been a councillor since 2016. She says the City of Johannesburg has been plagued by service delivery backlogs and challenges, and the job now is to bring back the shine to the city of gold:
