# eThekwini mayor Cyril Xaba says the launch of the Durban Beach Café is yet another significant milestone in the metro’s effort to enhance the beachfront as a key tourism asset. The property was part of the first batch of properties to be advertised in 2021 after the eThekwini Municipal Council adopted the Proactive Land Release Strategy. Xaba says the redevelopment has created an iconic tourist destination on the beachfront:
