# Namibia is making good progress to significantly reduce its dependency on imported electricity over the next nine years. The country’s deputy minister of Mines and Energy, Kornelia Shilunga, told the Africa Energy Forum in London that Namibia still imports about 60-percent of its electricity from various countries, including South Africa. The aim is to be less dependent on electricity imports by 2030, as there are opportunities for private entrepreneurs to become part of the power supply network in Namibia.
