# Motorsport: Toyota’s Giniel de Villiers has been handed a five-minute overall penalty for failing to check on a motorcyclist he hit during Sunday’s opening stage of the Dakar Rally. The penalty is likely to drop the South African from fourth to sixth in the overall rankiings. De Villiers clipped the unnamed biker as they negotiated a tight, rocky section of the Ha’il in Saudi Arabia. The biker was uninjured. This stage saw Henk Lategan and co-driver Brett Cummings consolidate, helping them to end in seventh place.
