# More than eleven-thousand-200 flights worldwide were delayed and thousands cancelled over the last 24 hours. The news agency Reuters says more than four-thousand flights were cancelled around the world on Sunday, and more than half of them were U.S. flights. This adds to the toll of holiday week travel disruptions due to adverse weather and the surge in coronavirus cases caused by the Omicron variant. The flights cancelled by 10 pm South African time on Sunday included over two-thousand-400 entering, departing from or within the United States.
