Link found between long-term air pollution exposure and hospital admissions

# A study published in BMJ Open has found a link between long-term exposure to air pollution and increased hospital admissions for both physical and behavioural health issues. The study analysed data from 202-thousand-237 individuals in Scotland. It shows that higher exposure to pollutants like NO2 was associated with increased rates of cardiovascular, respiratory, and mental health hospital admissions. The authors suggest that stricter environmental regulations and a shift to renewable energy could reduce future hospital care burdens.
