# Traffic authorities will be intensifying law enforcement ahead of New Year’s Eve festivities. Drunk driving operations will be scaled up in cities and townships to deal with lawlessness and to prevent unnecessary loss of life. More than 970-thousand-900 vehicles have been stopped and checked at 455 roadblocks nationwide since the start of December, while up to two-thousand-565 unroadworthy vehicles were discontinued and others impounded. Spokesperson Simon Zwane has urged drivers to reduce speed, and put the headlights on when driving in wet and rainy conditions.
