# The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate says it is working earnestly to address the trench reinstatement backlog, emerging from excavations for repairs to water pipes. An increased budget of 55-million-rand has been allocated in this 2024/2025 financial year, towards interventions to make further progress on reinstatements. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says they acknowledge the inconvenience that delays to some reinstatements have caused residents:
