Home Affairs registered at least 12-thousand people over Voter Registration Weekend

# The Department of Home Affairs has successfully registered over 12-thousand individuals during the Voter Registration Weekend. Operating through 268 offices and 103 mobile units, services ranged from ID collections, applications, issuance of Temporary Identification Certificates, and rectifications, to clearing referrals from the Independent Electoral Commission and passport collection. Deputy minister Njabulo Nzuza says nearly half of the attendees were first-time applicants. Nzuza encourages the 135-thousand first-time applicants who haven’t collected their IDs to expedite the process.
