# The Department of Health has confirmed three new mpox cases in Gauteng, bringing South Africa’s total to 28 since last May. The first case, a 30-year-old male from Ekurhuleni, had recently traveled to Uganda. Two more cases, detected through contact tracing, involve a 30-year-old male and a 27-year-old female. The department’s spokesperson Foster Mohale says all are recovering in isolation. He has called for vigilance and urged the public to practice good hygine and to seek medical care if symptomatic.
