Government announces Gauteng e-tolls to end

# Government has announced that e-tolls in Gauteng have officially been scrapped. The gantries will officially be disconnected from the e-tolls network from midnight on 11 April 2024. The National Treasury and Gauteng provincial government have finalised a memorandum of agreement which stated that Gauteng will pay 30-percent or R12.93-billion-rand of the South African National Roads Agency’s debt to national government. Gauteng will also contribute to backlog maintenance of 4.1-billion-rand. National Treasury will cover 100-percent of Sanral’s debt.
