Gender activist calls for enhanced GBV education in schools

#Gender activist Caroline Peters has highlighted that education is key to reducing gender-based violence and femicide. Around 1.5-million women experience violence annually, and Peters is calling for better coordination and integration of awareness gender-based violence into the school curriculum. Despite the Department of Education’s anti-bullying policies, she argues these efforts lack consistency and a coherent national strategy. She believes GBV education needs to be embedded across all subjects and grades, not just highlighted during temporary campaigns.
