Former Kruger National Park field ranger sentenced to ten years for rhino killing

# The Skukuza Regional Court has sentenced former field ranger Eckson Musa Matumbu to ten years imprisonment for the killing of a rhino in the Nwanetsi section of the Kruger National Park in 2020. Matumbu, entrusted with wildlife protection, was arrested for using an official firearm issued to him, and unauthorised ammunition in the rhino’s killing. The court found him guilty of engaging in a restricted activity involving a threatened or protected species. Additionally, Matumbu has been declared unfit to possess a firearm
