# The vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town, Mamokgethi Phakeng, has commended the institution’s patrol officials and campus Fire Services for acting swiftly when a fire broke out. She says it was brought under control within three hours after it was reported at 11.30 last night. It was declared fully doused just before two this morning. The fire started on the Upper Campus on a vacant field near a dam. UCT says there was no danger to human life.
