# eThekwini municipality is working on a five-point plan to reduce the shortage of grave space. This includes identifying land that can be used for new cemeteries. It was reported the municipality was not able to meet the growing demand for burial space. The city has been burying more than three-thousand bodies per month as compared to 700 under normal circumstances. The municipality’s spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela says communities have been reluctant to consider other methods of disposing of bodies.
