# Nearly 200 concerned environmental defenders demonstrated at the Cape Town harbour yesterday against the arrival of the Amazon Warrior ship. The vessel is on its way to the Wild Coast, to conduct seismic surveys for about five months. A petition calling on minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment Minister, Barbara Creecy, to withdraw Shell’s authorisation for the survey has more than 100-thousand signatures. Green Connection’s Liziwe McDaid says they are particularly concerned about the timing of this seismic survey, which is understood to still fall within the migration season for hump-backed whales.
