# Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has expresses condolences to the families and friends of 12 learners who died in a scholar transport accident in Merafong. Seven learners have been hospitalised. Makaneta has called for a thorough investigation and commends the Gauteng Department of Education’s swift response. He has also welcomed the deployment of psycho-social support to the affected schools.
