# Eastern Cape Police Commissioner, Nomthetheleli Mene, has reiterated that they will not tolerate acts of violence against those who serve and protect. On Sunday night, Kwazakele police members were on their way to deal with a complaint when they were stopped by community members, who told them of a robbery in progress at a local tavern. Police spokesperson, Priscilla Naidu, says when the members arrived, the suspects who were getting into a hijacked vehicle, started firing shots at them:
