Deputy minister leads chommy launch for positive change in Manenberg [SOUND]

# Social Development deputy minister, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development, will tomorrow launch the chommy programme in Manenberg, Western Cape. It’s targeting ten to 14-year-olds in a community marked by gang-related crimes and drug abuse. The programme seeks to build positive friendships, motivating youth to minimise risky behaviour and social issues, including bullying. The department’s Lumka Oliphant says the programme aims to reduce HIV infections, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancies through knowledge, skills development, and youth empowerment:
