# Dear South Africa launched a participation campaign following what it terms political interference by the Department of Sports, Art and Culture. This comes in the wake of government withdrawing its support for Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane, to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant in Israel. DearSA director Gideon Joubert says so far, they have received over nine-thousand unique comments from the public:
